Muhlenberg Hosts Philadelphia Launch of Talents Campaign
June 25, 2008
Nearly 80 alumni, parents and friends attended the Philadelphia launch of The Talents Entrusted to Our Care: The Campaign for Muhlenberg College at The Rittenhouse hotel on June 19, 2008.
The evening included remarks from Demetrai Tate '10; Provost Marjorie Hass P'11; Senior Campaign Chair Thomas Mendham '63, P'91, who announced the campaign goal of $105 million by June 30, 2010; and President Randy Helm, who announced the College has already secured $82 million in gifts and commitments.
President Helm also announced the recent gift of $7.2 million from the estate of Richard "Doc" D. Williams M.D. '39, the single largest gift given to the College by an individual. Guests then were treated to the film premiere of the Campaign DVD, The Talents Entrusted to Our Care, dubbed "a poem to Muhlenberg" by President Helm.
The College has launched this comprehensive campaign to raise money for:
- Endowment ("The People Entrusted to Our Care")
- Capital Projects ("The Places Entrusted to Our Care")
- The Muhlenberg Fund ("The Experience Entrusted to Our Care")
This campaign is driven by the conviction that a liberal arts education is not a private luxury, but a public necessity - indeed, a cornerstone of our democracy," says President Helm. "We know that past generations have used their talents to create the extraordinary institution that Muhlenberg has become. I know that our generation is no less committed. With this campaign, we must join them in shaping the College's future."
The next Regional Campaign Kickoff is scheduled for July 31, 2008 in San Francisco. To register for the event, click here.
