Michael Johnson is an alumni of Muhlenberg College (2011) and is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Visikol Inc., which is a New Jersey-based biotech company. While at Muhlenberg College, Michael earned a BS in Biology and a secondary education certification while playing both football and ice hockey. Following his work at at Muhlenberg, Michael worked at NASA through their airborne science program conducting remote sensing research and then began his PhD in applied microbiology at Rutgers University. Michael received a prestigious National Science Foundation IGERT Fellowship to fund his PhD work on algal biofuels and concurrently to working on his PhD, Michael worked full-time at Johnson & Johnson on sustainable product development.

While working at Johnson & Johnson and on his PhD, Michael and two colleagues developed their Visikol® technology which renders biological tissues transparent. Through 2015 they developed this technology for various high value applications such as replacing 400-year-old slide based tissue imaging with a 3-dimensional approach. In February of 2016, Michael and his colleagues raised $500,000 in funding from the Foundation Venture Capital Group to launch Visikol Inc. and today the company works out of the Commercialization Center for Innovative Technologies in North Brunswick, NJ. Visikol Inc. was awarded $225,000 in grant funding from the National Science Foundation in June of 2016 and is currently focused on launching 3D histology kits and reagents for researchers to use in basic research and pre-clinical drug development.
