Panama MILA 2016
Interested in a hands-on Public Health experience?
Want a chance to apply your Spanish language skills?
Then the Panama MILA might be right for you.
This spring we will be offering, for the second time, a MILA course that does just this: PBH-327 / SPN-327, Public Health in Practice: Panama, offers a solid base for the practice of public health and introduction to Spanish for healthcare and health outreach. The semester-long course prepares you for a two-week trip to Panama, where you will have the opportunity to meet with public health officers from the government and NGOs in urban, suburban, and rural environments, including a week spent doing fieldwork and interviews in the indigenous community of the Ngabe-Bugle. You will see how official policy meets the complicated reality of a diverse nation!
