'Berg alum to edit international art journal

Patricia Canfield Phillips '74 was recently named by the College Art Association as the new executive editor of the international art publication, Art Journal. In the past, she has written articles for Artforum, Sculpture and Art News magazines and has also published several books on art and culture.
"Patty Canfield Phillips has made important contributions to the intellectual life of the Martin Art Gallery as an alumna of the college. We are very proud of her and happy to hear of her new and prestigious position as editor of Art Journal as her work in our field has been consistently impressive," says Dr. Lori Verderame of the Martin Art Gallery.
In 1997, Canfield Phillips was invited back to campus to co-curate the art exhibition, "di Suvero and Serra Sculpture" with Verderame.
Canfield Phillips is currently the dean of the school of liberal arts at the State University of New York, New Paltz

Sending out an SOS...

This spring the Martin Art Gallery was awarded a conservation grant from SOS! Save Outdoor Sculpture, which is a division of the National Heritage of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The funds will be used to review and conserve Mark di Suvero's "Victor's Lament" on the College's main campus lawn.
