'89Christopher A. Brueningsen has been appointed headmaster of The Kiski School in New Kensington, Pa., effective for the 2002-2003 school year. Chris's first teaching position was as a math and physics instructor at The Kiski School from 1990 to 1996. After serving as mathematics department chair at the Brunswick School in Connecticut, he became head of upper school at the Nichols School in Buffalo, N.Y., in 2000. Chris received the 1996 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Janine (LeGrand) Casey sends the following update: "After working in healthcare public relations and marketing for the past 11 years, I recently reduced my workload so that I can enjoy more time with my family. I now work from home as a writer for Children's Specialized Hospital. My husband, Tom, and I live in Clinton, N.J., with our children, 5 year-old Emeline Caron and 10-month old Liam Macallister. Tom's 15-year-old daughter, Caite, rounds out our family." Opthalmologist Paul A. Garfinkle is working for the Ohio Eye Alliance and living with his wife Carolyn (Mule) '90 in Canton, Ohio. Tom Hodges and wife Alison (Harris) are proud to announce the birth of their third child, Abigail Elizabeth. She was born on September 19, 2001, weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches. Baby Abigail was welcomed home by Mom and Dad and big brothers Brendon, age 4, and Colin, age 2. The family lives in O'Fallon, Missouri. Tracy Kleppinger and Christopher Bozik were married September 22, 2001 at Whitetail Golf Club, Bath, Pa., where Chris is employed as a golf professional. Max and Barbara (DePerro) Schelle '91 proudly announce the birth of their daughter Kate Elizabeth, born October 12, 2001. Kate joins sister Molly, age 3, at home in Sparta, N.J. Heidi (Kuhl) Valvano and husband Charlie are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, Claire Susan, on November 19, 2001. The family resides in Dallas, Texas.

'90Matthew J. Andrews and his wife Paije are happy to announce the birth of their son Nathaniel Jack on May 25, 2001. Matthew currently works as a research analyst for The Dunn Group, a healthcare consulting company that conducts competitive intelligence market studies for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Matthew also received his MBA from Montclair State University in May 2000. The family lives in Green Brook, N.J. Lynell Barndt Boveri and her husband, Joe, are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Mattison Lyn on January 11, 2001. She joins her brother Zachary, age 2 1/2. Following the birth of Mattison, Lynell resigned from her position as a supervisor in Child Protective Services for the City of Norfolk, in order to stay home with her children. She and her family recently moved to Japan, where her husband will be serving as a JAG for the U.S. Navy for the next three years. Lisa Crothers reports that she is currently a Ph.D. student at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., where she is enrolled in the West and South Asian Religions Program. She is also a bibliographic researcher at the American Academy of Religion, Media and Religion Project. On September 9, 2001, Matt Domzalski and his wife, Carol, held the first annual "Emily's Walk for Life" walk-a-thon in memory of their daughter, Emily Laura, who passed away from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) on November 14, 2000 at the age of 7 1/2 months. The walk was held at the Bob Rodale Cycling and Fitness Park in Macungie, Pa. The couple, along with nearly 300 family members, friends and co-workers, raised over $32,000 for Families of SMA, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting research to find a cure for SMA. The organization also provides education to the public and professional community and helps families cope with SMA through informational programs and support. Several Muhlenberg alumni were in attendance to support the cause, including David Domzalski '89, John Pace, Dave Ulrich, Glenn Wilson, Vince Tagliaferri, Chris Shipman, Bill Oakley, Jim '91 and Traci (Luckenbill) Falco '93, Jeff and Tori (Rimer) Morgan and Michelle (Sager) DiEnno. Numerous other 'Berg alumni made generous contributions to the cause. Matt and Carol would like to thank everyone for their love, support and generosity in their fight to find a cure for SMA. On October 13, 2001, Jeaninne (Einfalt) and Jim Frick were married in Easton, Pa. Jim is currently doing a two-year cardio-thoracic surgical fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center. Jeaninne will be working at Loyola as a hospitalist. The couple lives in Elmhurst, Ill. Hilary (Forman) married Andrew Schaffer on October 27, 2001 in White Plains, N.Y. They honeymooned for two weeks in Hawaii. The couple lives in New Haven, Conn. Susan (Valania) Kane and her husband Jon now reside in Charleston, S.C. They have two children - Hunter, age 3, and Jack, 14 months. Jon is the general manager for Adams Outdoor Advertising. Susan is a stay-at-home mom and occasionally works as an RN in the neonatal intensive care unit.
'91Kristen (Fleming) Cummings and husband Brian are proud to announce the arrival of their son, Liam Joseph, on August 31, 2001. Liam was 8 pounds, 6 ounces. and 22 inches long. He joins big sister Lauren Elizabeth, 21 months, in the family's Millstone Township, N.J. home. Kristin is an assistant vice president with Merrill Lynch in Plainsboro, N.J. "I work in the HR department of the Investment Management Division of Merrill Lynch - specifically in Employee Relations. I LOVE MY JOB!!!," she writes. Christopher Driscoll writes to say that he and wife Erica (Peppler) '89 celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on June 22nd. The couple has two daughters: Rosie, age 5, and Emily, age 3, and the family recently moved to Jackson, N.J. Christopher is currently vice president of sales for Dain Correspondent Services in New York. Christopher writes, "My father, Patrick Driscoll, died aboard United Flight #93 on September 11, 2001. My thoughts and prayers are extended to all who have been affected by that day's tragedies." Pamela Ann (Loftus) Marthins and her husband Todd celebrate the birth of their first child, Abigail Marie, on October 12, 2001. Abigail weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and measured 19 inches long. The Marthins live in Haddonfield, N.J., where Pam is a high school mathematics teacher at Eastern High School (Voorhees, N.J.) and Todd is the operations manager at On-Site Drapery, Inc. (Collingswood, N.J.). Tim McElhinney married the former Irene Reilly on January 20, 2001. The mass took place in Breezy Point, N.Y., followed by a reception held in Woodbury, N.Y. Alumni who braved the snow storm and attended were: Matt Schloss and wife Allie, Ken Blum, Dave Keck, Lee and Becky (Hissong) Isenstein and Bob Powers and wife Ann. The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia, and was expecting its first child in late December, 2001. Doug and Debbie (Silver) Peterson are pleased to announce that their son Ty celebrated his first birthday on February 1, 2002. The family lives in Portsmouth, R.I. Christopher and Tina (Okun) '90 Smith announce with great joy the birth of their daughter, Carly Jane Smith, on August 27, 2001. Tina, Chris and Carly live in Denville, N.J. Chris recently joined Aventis Pharmaceuticals in Bridgewater, N.J., as senior director, global commercial communications. Tina is currently on maternity leave from Honeywell International in Morristown, N.J., where she is director of learning and meeting services.
