Greetings from Muhlenberg College!

As executive director of Career Services, I fill an important role as your partner in supporting your student's success. The career team and I will relay important information and solicit your help in ensuring the career and graduate school readiness of your student.

Our primary objective is to prepare students for life-long progression in careers where they will feel engaged and satisfied. This is where I look for your support in the process, and this is where you can count on my team and me.  We are not coaching students on what they will do next, we are challenging students to own who they are.

You have my word that our team will always remain focused on the following things:

  • We will challenge your student to be self-reflective.
  • We will engage with your student to understand their needs and professional goals.
  • We will listen to your student’s concerns and the reason for their concerns.
  • We will treat them as individuals, celebrate their uniqueness, and help them leverage it in their career search.
  • We will stay current on industry best practices and we will share our knowledge thoroughly and completely.
  • We will coordinate with other members of the Muhlenberg community to enhance your student’s experience, challenge faulty thinking, and help them grow and connect with people invested in their success.
  • We will work tirelessly to increase the amount of opportunity that they can access both during their time here and after their graduation.
  • We will espouse the community values that helped you and your student decide to attend this institution.

This year, the Career Center has packaged our offerings into the Muhlenberg Action Plan (MAP). This system will encourage your students to think of careers at an individualized level, and create actionable next steps, accordingly. For more information about MAP, I encourage you to visit our MAP website.

Finally, I’m excited to officially welcome you to The Muhlenberg Network. The network, comprised of faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and employers, will be students’ access points to experiential learning, and ultimately their next destination after Muhlenberg. Please take a moment to fill out this brief survey to introduce yourself and provide us with a bit more information about your career!

Warmly,

Sean M. Schofield, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Career Services
