Nikki Gum

Director of College Communications

Nikki (Rhoads) Gum is a 2008 graduate of Muhlenberg College. The media & communication and political science double major was a Dana Scholar, Cardinal Key, field hockey team member, tour guide and admissions student worker.

After graduation, Gum combined her interests of government and the media in the Washington, D.C. office of Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr., where she got to know Pennsylvania media well.

After more than two years in D.C., Gum was eager for new professional challenges and the familiarity of her home state. She quickly discovered a new passion in her role as assistant director of communications at Gettysburg College. At Gettysburg, Gum managed local and regional media relations, produced content for the website and alumni magazine, promoted Gettysburg’s distinctive programs, led commencement and orientation communications efforts and was the lead communications staff member for the Sesquicentennial commemoration of the Battle of Gettysburg and Gettysburg Address.

Gum returned to her alma mater during the summer of 2015, after a stint as communications director at the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association. At Muhlenberg, she serves as editor of Muhlenberg magazine; plays a key role in production of official college publications; acts as yearbook advisor; develops content for the website; promotes programs and events including Center for Ethics, Living Writers and commencement and more.

She lives in Macungie with her husband, Brandon, their son, Jack, and the family's three cats.
