Laptop requests for administrative staff
In very specific situations, if a member of the administrative staff has a frequent need to work out of the office and if that need is verified and approved by one’s Director and VP, OIT may provide a laptop with docking station instead of a desktop computer. Request for new laptops can only be made by one’s Director with approval from one's VP. Requests must also be approved by OIT.
Laptop requests (in cycle)
Approved requests made at the time of a computer replacement require departmental funds for the cost difference between the laptop and campus standard desktop.
Laptop requests (out of cycle)
Approved requests outside of the five year replacement cycle require departmental funds for the cost of the laptop and peripherals. The replaced desktop will return to OIT inventory.
The cost of replacing the laptop in subsequent years is borne fully by OIT.
