Spanish is the world’s second most prominent language, and the United States is the world’s fourth largest Spanish speaking country; here in Allentown, the surrounding community is 58 percent Hispanic, with a population of Latinos and Hispanic immigrants that is one of the nation’s most diverse.
This means Spanish students at Muhlenberg are uniquely equipped for the challenges and opportunities of a globalized world and our own ever-more diverse communities. The ability to make connections across cultures, the capacity to read Spanish media and literature, aptitudes for critical thinking and global awareness—these are vital skills in today’s economy and society.
