Percussion


Background
Received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Julliard School, where he was scholarship student of New York Philharmonic timpanist Saul Goodman. He performed as Principal Percussionist with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company, Principal Timpanist for the New York City Opera National Company, and Staff Timpanist/Percussionist with the Light Opera of Manhatten. In addition to performing, he teaches at Kean University, Lehigh University and Muhlenberg College. He has been an active freelance musician in the New York City region for over twenty-five years and has been invited to perform with New York City Opera, American Ballet Theater, Radio City Orchestra, Glimmerglass Opera, as well as numerous other orchestras in the region. Mr. Thoma has also performed in the Broadway productions of Mary Poppins, Woman in White, Gypsy, and A Chorus Line.
