Background: 

Larissa is currently working at Harleysville Life/Nationwide Financial in the Life Legal/Compliance departments,  assisting with various legal and compliance matters including regulatory research and compliance monitoring, form and contract review and legal research pertaining to individual and group life matters. Larissa also represents the legal/compliance unit in life insurance-related projects and meetings. In her spare time, Larissa consults on a freelance basis on human resources and employment matters, including career consulting and resume-writing. Larissa came to Harleysville Life/Nationwide Financial in 2009, after working 9 years in New York City, at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, American International Group, Inc., and Primus Asset Management in various administrative, legal, and human resources capacities. Larissa had the privilege of interning with Family Division Judge SallyAnn Floria, through the Superior Court of New Jersey’s Meditation Program, as well as in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Civil/Criminal Parts in Chambers of Judge Stephanie Duncan-Peters. Larissa earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Muhlenberg College in Political Science, History and Education, and her Juris Doctorate degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. She also earned Human Resources Management Certification from Cornell University.  Larissa also volunteers for various boards and organizations, including Muhlenberg College’s Board of Associates.

 

Karen Beck Pooley

Background:

Karen Beck Pooley is currently a Senior Associate at czb LLC, an urban planning and neighborhood development consulting firm, and teaches courses on neighborhood and housing issues at Muhlenberg College and Lehigh University.  She served as Executive Director of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Allentown from 2007 to 2011.  During her tenure there, she revived a flagging Blighted Property Review Process, made over three dozen properties available to nonprofit and for-profit developers for rehabilitation and resale to qualified homebuyers, and worked with the City’s Bureau of Building Standards & Safety to establish a new Homesteading Program.  Previously, she was Deputy Director of the Third Party Transfer and Tax Lien Sale Unit within New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and Research Associate at the Institute for Children & Poverty.  Karen has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wellesley College, a Master of Urban Planning & Policy from New School University’s Milano Graduate School, and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of City and Regional Planning. 

 

Michael D. D’Amore

Background:

The Honorable Michael D. D’Amore currently serves as a Magisterial District Judge in Lehigh County.  His district includes the East Side of the City of Allentown, the Borough of Catasauqua and the Township of Hanover. 
Before taking office in January 2012, Dr. D’Amore was an Assistant Professor of Political Science & History at Sussex Community College in Newton, NJ.  He was also an elected member of the Allentown City Council from 2006-2011 and served as the President of that body from 2008-2011.
Dr. D’Amore has been teaching collegiate courses, both as an adjunct and a full-time faculty member, since academic year 1999-2000.
