Sociology and Anthropology
Maura Finkelstein is a socio-cultural anthropologist of urban South Asia. Her research examines the mechanisms through which political subjectivities are produced and negotiated in the context of deindustrialization and redevelopment in Mumbai, India. An article entitled “In the Shadows of Industry: Visible and Invisible Labor in Mumbai’s Mill Lands” was published in the 2015 issue of City and Society 27(3): 250-271. Her article “Ghosts in the Gallery: The Vitality of Anachronism in a Mumbai Chawl" in forthcoming in Anthropological Quarterly. Her monograph, The Archive of Loss: Lively Ruination in Mill Land Mumbai, is under review at Duke University Press.
