Frequently Asked Questions
What class levels should I take?
Students without experience in a particular style should begin at Level I. Students with prior experience should consult with the director to discuss placement. Email email@example.com.
Placement in Ballet II and III must be approved by the drector. Students will advance through levels at their own rate, and the director will assess and determine students' levels.
What is the dress code?
Creative Movement and Boys' Classes: students should wear comfortable clothing (shorts or pants, please) that does not inhibit them from moving freely and safely; bare feet are required. No tights or shoes, as shoes inhibit grounding the body and articulating the feet, which aids in balance and coordination for young children.
Ballet attire for girls: any solid-color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Ballet attire for boys: solid-color fitted shirt, fitted black dance pants, and black or neutral ballet slippers.
Jazz, tap, and modern attire for girls: any color leotard with jazz pants/leggings and appropriate footwear — black jazz or tap shoes, bare feet). Jazz, tap, and modern attire for boys: fitted t-shirt and fitted dance pants with appropriate footwear.
Are there any discounts available?

Faculty, staff, and alumni receive 15% off total fees.
Families registering more than one child receive a 10% discount off their total tuition (not including Performance Company fee).
No more than one discount program per family.
Can I drop in and take a class?
Yes! The drop-in rate is $15, payable at the door. ($10 to drop-in to the Ballet II/III Open Class for Ballet II and Teen Technique students.) This is a good option for trying out a class to see if it's the right class for you. Please arrange this in advance, so that we can email you the necessary waivers, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 484-664-3087.
Do I need to pay the registration fee?
The registration fee is waived for all families who register by the early-registration deadline. There is a $15 registration fee per family for registrations that arrive after the early-registration deadline, and a $25 late-registration fee for registrations after the registration deadline. Please register early! See registration form for deadlines.

What should parents do during class?
Parents are not permitted to sit in the classroom and observe their child’s class. This is to insure optimal learning for ALL children attending class. If there are any problems, the teacher or assistant will contact you immediately.
We recommend parents find one of the many comfortable public spaces on campus during their children's class:
- Trexler Pavilion: The Box Office Lobby and Baker Theatre Lobby ("The Fishbowl"), just an elevator ride away from the Upper Level Studio
- Baker Center for the Arts: The vending area, just across the Main Concourse from the steps up to the Tap Box (CA-226); the Martin Art Gallery, right up the ramp.
- Trexler Library, right down Chew Street
- Seegers Union, where you can get a snack at Java Joe's Coffee Cart and the General's Quarters.
Consult the campus map for more information.
