Chili Receives Preseason All-America Recognition

Alexandra Chili With basketball practice set to begin on Wednesday, a member of the Muhlenberg women’s team has already grabbed some national attention.

Senior guard Alexandra Chili was named to the preseason All-America third team.

The lone Centennial Conference player on the squad, Chili was a first-team all-region selection by last fall and also received honorable mention on the State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.

The conference’s leader in career 3-pointers (253), she led the CC and ranked in the top 30 in Division III in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game last season.

She also finished 18th nationally in three-pointers per game (2.76) and 23rd in free-throw percentage (.852). She led the Mules in all those categories and also was third on the team in assists and blocked shots, fourth in steals and fifth in rebounding.

The owner of the top three single-season scoring marks in school history, Chili broke her own school record with 546 points last season and is just 193 points shy of the career scoring record.

Muhlenberg is scheduled to open the 2011-12 season with a game at Moravian on Tuesday, November 15, before hosting the 30th Scotty Wood Tournament that weekend.
