Junior Stephanie Carnevale qualified in the 60-meters hurdles and will run in the preliminaries on Friday at 4:15 Central Time. The distance-medley relay team of junior Nicki Cronin, sophomore Kirsten Kuchera and seniors Erica Bash (left) and Samantha Mayden also made the field and are slated to run at 6:00 CST on Friday.

Mayden is in the only Mule with previous NCAA experience, and she has plenty, although this will be her first time running indoors at the national meet. She competed in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last year and made two straight trips to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, posting the best finish in program history (67th place) in 2012.

Mayden is the first female in program history to qualify for NCAAs in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. Two males – Will Elson ’03 and David Chorney ’09 – accomplished the feat.

The DMR team is the first Muhlenberg female relay to qualify for NCAAs. Two men’s DMR teams have run in the national meet, in 2003 and 2009, with both finishing in the top eight to earn All-America honors.

Carnevale is the first Mule hurdler, male or female, to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The Muhlenberg track and field program has sent at least one representative to the NCAA Championships (indoor and/or outdoor) every year but one since 2001.
