Lauren’s First and Goal is a charitable organization started in 2004 by John and Marianne Loose in honor of their daughter, Lauren, a 16-year-old pediatric brain tumor survivor. Since its inception, LFG has raised more than $1 million toward its mission to provide financial support for brain tumor research and cancer services, to offer financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer and to increase awareness of the disease.

For several years, Muhlenberg coaches have volunteered at the annual LFG camp at nearby Lafayette College, where John Loose is an assistant football coach.

More than 50 returning Mule players participated in a lift-a-thon to raise the money, soliciting donors to pledge an amount for every pound lifted in the bench, clean and squat.

At right, Muhlenberg players and coaches present a check for $5,122.25 to Lauren Loose.
