Kelly Kline For the third straight year, senior Kelly Kline of the Muhlenberg softball team was named to the All-East Region team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Kline was a second-team selection in 2014 after previously earning spots on the first and third teams. She is the fourth player in program history to receive all-region recognition at least three times.

Kline, who also was named All-Centennial Conference first team and the top softball player in the area by the LVAIAW, led the Mules in batting average (.415), home runs (9), RBI (34), runs scored (33), slugging percentage (.764), on-base percentage (.551) and walks (a school-record 29). Through games of May 11, she ranked 17th in Division III in on-base percentage.

A career .394 hitter, the powerful first baseman finished her tenure as the program’s all-time leader in hits (183), doubles (38), home runs (30), extra-base hits (71), total bases (317), slugging percentage (.683) and RBI (152). She put considerable distance between herself and the old records in some of those categories; the previous standards for home runs and RBI were 13 and 93, respectively.

During her career, Kline also set or tied school records for hitting streak (26 games), home runs in season (12) and game (2), extra-base hits in a season (26) and game (4), total bases in a season (105) and game (12), slugging percentage in a season (.929) and RBI in a season (51). Her final hit was a two-run walkoff single against McDaniel in the CC playoffs and gave her and her two classmates an even 100 wins in four years – a school record for any sport.
