Field Hockey Earns Academic Honors

The Muhlenberg field hockey team continued its history of academic success in 2013, receiving the National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Ashley DeAngelis Erin Cummings The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year. Muhlenberg has received the award every year since 2003.

The Mules also had 11 team members – Sarah Barbakoff, Emily Boyle, Erin Cummings, Ashley DeAngelis, Ray Gallagher, Meghan Gill, Dayna Hovern, Molly Sanford, Gabrielle Smith, Rachel Strow and Claudia Theriault – named to the Division III National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.

Muhlenberg experienced success on the field as well in 2013, earning its first Centennial Conference playoff berth in six years.
