Ian Gimbar Sophomore linebacker Ian Gimbar of the Muhlenberg football team was named to the All-South Region third team.

A first-team All-Centennial Conference selection, Gimbar set a school record with 14½ sacks in 2012. Through last weekend’s national quarterfinal games, he was tied for sixth in Division III in sacks per game and 17th in tackles for loss per game (1.82).

Gimbar was third on the Mules in total tackles (76) and recorded two pass breakups and a forced fumble, helping the Mules allow a CC-low 15.6 points per game. He closed the season on a roll, recording 7½ sacks in the final three games, including four against Moravian, and making a career-high 13 tackles against Delaware Valley in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl game.

One of only four sophomore defensive players on the all-region team, Gimbar also was involved in one of the most dramatic plays of the season, catching a 15-yard touchdown pass on a fake punt for the winning score in a 35-31 victory over previously undefeated Gettysburg.
