Three Seniors to Captain Women's Tennis Team

Gabriela Contino, Nina Sanders, Emily Szulman Three seniors – Gabriela Contino, Nina Sanders and Emily Szulman – will captain the 2014 Muhlenberg women’s tennis team.

Contino (left) spent most of her junior year at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. She went 4-4 in doubles play during the Centennial Conference season and won three matches at sixth singles. Contino has 23 career victories as a Mule.

Sanders (middle) is coming off a strong season at the top of the lineup. She finished 6-8 in her second year in the first singles spot after going 2-14 in her first. Sanders, who has 38 career wins, was named to the All-CC second team in singles and received honorable mention in doubles, finishing 6-8 overall and 5-5 in league play teamed with Szulman.

Szulman (right) posted a winning conference record at No. 2 singles, finishing 6-4 in the CC and 7-8 overall to go along with a strong season at No. 1 doubles. Five of her doubles losses came against ranked teams, and Szulman leads all active Mules in career victories, posting a winning 52-49 mark in her first three seasons.

Last spring, Muhlenberg finished 5-10 overall and 5-5 in the conference, their 13th consecutive year at .500 or better in the always competitive CC. The Mules are scheduled to return to action at Vassar on February 22.
