Killing Named Player of the Week

Malique Killing Junior Malique Killing of the Muhlenberg men’s basketball team was named Centennial Conference co-player of the week.

Killing averaged 27.5 points and 3.5 assists in a pair of Mule wins. He scored 23 points in a 64-48 win at Swarthmore, then exploded for 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting with six assists and six rebounds in a 91-75 triumph vs. Johns Hopkins in a mathcup of 2013 CC semifinalists.

The 32-point effort against Hopkins was the fifth 30-point game in Killing’s career, moving him into a tie for second place on the program’s all-time list.

Killing shot 47.2 percent from the floor and 94.7 percent (18 for 19) from the line in the two contests.

The weekly CC honor was the first for Killing, who leads the league in scoring average (25.3 points per game) by more than eight points. He has 1,140 career points, good for 20th place in team history.

The two wins gave Muhlenberg a 6-1 start for only the second time in 25 years. The Mules, who do not play another CC game until January 8, are tied for second in the conference with Franklin & Marshall, a game behind defending champion Dickinson.
