FAQs
What are the advantages?
- Follow Me Printing - you will be able to access print jobs at any PaperCut enabled copier
- Automatic deletion of abandoned job - Print jobs are automatically deleted if not released after a specified time (72 hours), thus eliminating waste for jobs never picked up or documents that needed to be reprinted due to a mistake.
- Secure Printing - All print jobs will be secure so there is no worry of a print job sent to the copier getting into the hands of the wrong person. To release of print, you simply login at the Ricoh with your Muhlenberg ID card. Forget your card? Not a problem. You may enter your credentials manually at the printer.
- Sustainability - Print Management Software such as PaperCut enhances the environmental goals of the College. It will help reduce waste, all while adding increased security to your documents.
- Convenience - Finally, the ability to pick up your print job at any device will allow everyone to be more productive as a copier waiting for service or with a line of people will not prevent you from picking up your print job.
Do I need to login to use the printer for other functions?
Yes, you will. You will be required to login with you ID card or by manually entering in your network credentials to release a print job, fax, copy and to scan to your email.
My ID card isn't recognized?
If your ID card is not recognized by the Ricoh card reader, you may manually associate your card by entering your network credentials manually once into the device. Once associated your card will work with your account.

I am still able to print directly to Ricoh printers. Will that always be available?
The ability to direct print is being phased out. Direct printing to PCL6 Drive for Universal Print (Windows) and existing Ricoh drivers (Mac) is still available on some devices, but will not be available on newly deployed devices.
I have a student employee that prints for me. How will that work?
We will work with each department to register a blank ID card to the account that requires print jobs to be released by a student employee. Phase 2 implementation on enabling student employees to use PaperCut is currently being discussed.
Will training be provided on how to use the new Ricoh printer?
A Ricoh trainer was on site during deployment to show those available step-by-step how to use the new printer. Having said that, other than logging in to Papercut, the “classic” mode to copy and fax provides a smooth transition for users, as nothing has changed. A new feature called “Scan to Me” is now available for easy scan to email functionality. Scanner (classic) is still available for larger jobs (over 20 MB) to be scanned USB. Documentation will be made available and you can always contact the Copy Center or Support Desk for assistance.
Can I print from a mobile device?
Mobile printing to PaperCut is available. Documentation on mobile printing will be made available soon.
