Business Administration
Learn to lead with insight, agility, and purpose.
Why business administration matters:
Today’s business landscape is global, fast-moving, and full of complex challenges. From startups to social enterprises to multinational corporations, organizations need professionals who can think critically, communicate clearly, and make decisions with ethical awareness. Business is about more than profit — it’s about understanding systems, people, and possibilities.
How business administration is taught at Muhlenberg:
At Muhlenberg, business administration is rooted in the liberal arts and taught by faculty with real-world industry experience. You’ll gain a strong foundation in core business functions while exploring how organizations interact with culture, policy, and society. Small classes, faculty mentorship, and flexible concentrations — like marketing, international business, and management — help you tailor your studies and prepare for careers across industries.

Business administration majors study the foundations of management, marketing, and organizational leadership while exploring the ethical, global, and environmental dimensions of decision-making. The curriculum builds core competencies in communication, analysis, and strategy through a mix of theory, application, and reflection. All students complete a senior capstone course and develop a professional digital portfolio that documents their learning and prepares them for life after graduation.
Students may choose to concentrate in marketing, management and organization studies, or international business. Or, students can design their own path with faculty support. Double majors are common across a range of fields, from economics and accounting to psychology and media and communication.
Business administration students at Muhlenberg apply classroom learning through internships, collaborative consulting projects, and real-world problem solving. Internships are supported year-round and often integrated into coursework, helping students build professional experience and explore career paths early on.
Many students study abroad, including at Maastricht University in the Netherlands — a program designed specifically for business administration, economics, finance, and accounting majors. In the classroom, students develop career-ready skills through resume workshops, case competitions, and professional presentations. The program’s required digital portfolio helps students reflect on their growth, showcase their achievements, and articulate their value to future employers or graduate programs.
