Student Research
Here, research is a fundamental example of hands-on learning and a distinct part of the undergraduate experience.
At Muhlenberg, research is for everyone. It provides a space where problems can be dissected, questions pulled apart — where new ideas emerge and are tested and refined. Our students conduct research across all disciplines, including the arts and the humanities as well as the natural and social sciences.

How do I get involved with research at Muhlenberg?
- Talk to the faculty whose classes you’ve really enjoyed. Ask them what kinds of research or scholarly projects they are working on and see if they have time to work with you on a project. Students often start by working on faculty members’ projects before they come up with their own projects.
- Search faculty pages on department websites. This allows you to see what kinds of work faculty are doing. When you find something that interests you, send an email to that professor asking to meet and talk about their work.
- Follow up. Sometimes faculty are already busy working on projects with other students. Check in to see if spots eventually open up or ask a different faculty member about research opportunities.
