Learn how and when to pay the balance left after your financial aid award is applied to your bill.
Muhlenberg College partners with Nelnet Business Systems to facilitate online tuition payments, including the option to set up interest-free monthly payments. Here’s everything you need to know to ensure that your payments are processed on time.
Billing and Payment Due Dates
| Semester | Billing Date | Payment Due Date |
|---|---|---|
| Fall 2025 Semester | July 9, 2025 | August 9, 2025 |
| Spring 2026 Semester | December 9, 2025 | January 9, 2026 |
Where to Find Your Invoice and Due Date
Muhlenberg no longer mails student tuition and fees invoices. Invoices and statements are provided electronically from Nelnet using their eBill functionality.
When an invoice or bill is available or has been updated, Nelnet will send a message to the student’s Muhlenberg email address with instructions on how to access the invoice and how to provide parents and third-party payers access to create their own accounts.
Payment due dates are 30 days past the date of the bill.
How to Make Online Payments
Online payments are handled through Nelnet. A student can access Nelnet through the Application Portal. There, they can either make online payments directly or set up authorized payer access for parents and other third-party payers.
How to set up authorized payer access:
- Students: From the Nelnet home screen, click on “Add Authorized Party” in the lower right corner of the screen and follow the prompts.
- Authorized payers: When your student makes you an authorized payer, an email is automatically sent to you with a link for a security question to give you access to log in.
- Once you are an authorized payer, you can make payments and/or enroll in a payment plan here.
Payment options:
- Provide a routing number to pay with a savings or checking account free of charge.
- Use a credit or debit card and a 2.85% convenience fee applies.
How to Set Up a Monthly Payment Plan
You are welcome to pay your bill in full up front. However, Nelnet also offers interest-free payment plans for up to 10 monthly installments.
Students may enroll in fall, spring, or both semesters. Fall semester tuition is paid in as many as five fall semester installments and spring semester tuition is paid in as many as five spring semester installments. If all installments have not been received by the end of the semester, registration holds will prevent the student from registering for future semesters.
There is a fee of $45 per semester to set up monthly payments.
How to Pay Tuition by Check
Muhlenberg continues to accept checks for tuition payments. Please make checks payable to Muhlenberg College and mail directly to:

How to Access Affordability Counseling
If the difference between your annual educational costs and available financial aid is greater than what you are able to pay on a monthly basis, Nelnet can assist you with affordability counseling. By limiting the amount borrowed and maximizing the interest-free payment you make each month, Nelnet can help find your best solution. Nelnet representatives may be contacted at 800-609-8056.
