Pre-Theological
Guidance for students pursuing future work or study within a religious tradition
Students considering seminary, graduate theological study, or future work within a religious tradition are encouraged to pursue a personalized academic path supported by thoughtful advising and interdisciplinary exploration. Recommended areas of study include History, Philosophy, English literatures or creative writing, classical languages, Jewish Studies, and Religion Studies. Majors and minors are available in both Religion Studies and Jewish Studies.
With support from the college chaplain through the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and faculty advisors, students receive guidance on program requirements, denominational expectations, and course selection to help prepare for future theological or ministerial study.
Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to participate in religious life on campus and engage with community-based opportunities. Study groups focusing on sacred texts, social issues, personal development, and interfaith dialogue are offered regularly, along with a wide range of service and fellowship activities.
