This summer, Jacob Taylor ’27, a mathematics and economics double major from Glastonbury, Connecticut, has an internship with Mitsubishi Power Aero, a power plant equipment supplier in his hometown.

Why did you decide to pursue this internship?
I decided on this internship to gain professional experience in an environment suited to the fields I am studying at Muhlenberg while also exploring exactly what I’d like to do post-college.

Muhlenberg experiences that have helped me include working with Excel in my econ courses, developing problem-solving skills in my math courses, and being able to present my work.

What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the office where I work on tasks assigned to me, take meetings with the rest of our finance/accounting department, and collaborate with my coworkers. My main task is to develop a process to update our SAP [software] vendor data that can be replicated after my time here is over. I also have taken assignments from others in the department to branch out a bit.

How have your Muhlenberg experiences helped you in this work?
Muhlenberg experiences that have helped me include working with Excel in my econ courses, developing problem-solving skills in my math courses, and being able to present my work, which I attribute to leading a workshop at Muhlenberg for microeconomics.
