Merit Scholarships
Muhlenberg offers generous merit scholarships for strong students.
All students who submit a complete application for admission are considered for merit-based scholarships — which range in amount from $30,000 to $46,000 — on the basis of strong academic performance, extracurricular commitments, and positive character. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to complete an admissions interview, which can provide helpful context for merit scholarship consideration. Students who apply test-optional will be considered for merit scholarships.
Merit Scholarship Policies
Merit scholarships at Muhlenberg College are renewable for up to a total of eight undergraduate semesters, provided the recipient is in good social standing as a full-time student and maintains the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.5 at the conclusion of their first year and 3.0 at the conclusion of their second and third years.
Scholarships are determined at the time of the admission. Decisions are based on a student’s academic performance and the rigor of their course selection throughout their prior academic career.
The merit scholarship amount offered is determined during the admissions process and is a fixed amount for each semester, for a maximum of eight semesters. Therefore, merit scholarships will not increase for any reason while a student is attending Muhlenberg. Any unused merit scholarship due to part-time status, withdrawal, or early graduation is forfeited.
For Transfer Students
All transfer students are also considered for merit scholarships.
Current community college students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) are also eligible for a $5,000 PTK scholarship. This scholarship is renewable for up to four semesters at Muhlenberg as long as a 3.0 GPA and good community standing are maintained.
RJ Fellows Scholarship
The RJ Fellows honors community offers a $5,000 annual scholarship to students invited to join the program.
