Teaching Interests

Audrey Simons is active as a cello performer and instructor. Ms. Simons is a cellist in the Allentown Symphony Orchestra and is a founding member of Sylvan Strings, based in the Lehigh Valley. She also performs with the Pennsylvania String Ensemble, Aviva Strings, and as a guest artist with the Elysium String Quartet and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic.

Ms. Simons received the Bachelor of Music Degree in cello performance from Susquehanna University and was subsequently awarded a teaching assistantship at the Temple University Esther Boyer College of Music, where she received the Master of Music Degree in music history with summa cum laude honors, and taught classes in music appreciation.

Her cello teachers have included Heidi Jacob and Jeffrey Solow.

While teaching music history at Montgomery County Community College, Ms. Simons was a recipient of the Faculty Award in Teaching Excellence. In 2017, she received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Who’s Who of American Women. Currently, Ms. Simons is a cello instructor on the music faculties at Moravian University and Muhlenberg College. Many of her private cello students have participated successfully in PMEA District, Region and All-State Orchestra Festivals as well as solo recital performances. In addition, she and her husband, Anthony, served as Music Directors of the Pocono Youth Orchestra and the Pocono Junior String Orchestra, based in Stroudsburg, for 25 years
