Teaching Interests

I teach voice because I love helping student develop their unique sound by making connections between mind, body and soul, as they search to develop effective and artistic ways to communicate words and music.

I am interested in all aspects of singing, both solo and ensemble singing, with a particular focus in music theater and classical repertories, as well as in the science of singing, that is the anatomy and physiology of the human voice.

Research and Scholarship

I am a versatile musician with forty years of experience as voice instructor, vocal coach, choral and instrumental conductor, singer, music educator and keyboardist.

During the late ’80s and ’90s, I gained popularity as a soloist and choral conductor in my homeland, Argentina, where I directed choral and orchestral ensembles and sang with important orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2017, I have been on the music faculty at Muhlenberg College.

Previously I was Artist-Lecturer in Voice and Conducting at Moravian University, where for 25 years I taught applied voice, voice related courses, and conducting, and was for fourteen seasons the director of the Moravian College Women’s Chorus. I was also the Director of Music at Yardley United Methodist Church for 24 years.

In addition to teaching voice I am the Artistic Director and Conductor of the PA Camerata Singers, and the Chorus Master of the Allentown Symphony Chorus.

I am the co-founder, 2-term past president, and current member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

I live in Bethlehem with my wife, Carole Burkhardt, also a singer and retired music educator; we have three grown children, Mica, Lukas, and Pablo.
