Renowned pianist Kemal Gekic will perform next in Muhlenberg College's 2002-2003 Piano Series. The recital will be Friday, October 25, 8 p.m. in the Paul C. Empie Theatre, Baker Center for the Arts.

Born in Split, Yugoslavia, in 1962, Gekic received his initial musical training form his aunt. In 1962, he was granted the highest mark ever at a diploma examination recital at the Art Academy of Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, where he is now the director of the piano department. Highlights of Gekic's career include original interpretations of Chopin's work, and a 5-CD recording of the complete Liszt Transcendental Etudes, which both have received high acclaim. Most recently Gekic emerged from a period of intense study to resume what promises to be an exciting concert career.

Next in the concert series is Paul Badura-Skoda, to perform on Friday, February 14, 2003. Juana Zayas will perform in April.

Tickets are $18 general admission, $12 for faculty and senior citizens. For more information, or to reserve tickets, contact the Department of Music at Muhlenberg College at 484-664-3363.
