Last month, the American College Dance Festival's (ACDF) Northeast Regional Festival selected Muhlenberg College's dance work "Black Raspberry" to perform in the ACDF National Festival, often thought of as "the Olympics of the college dance world."

This year, Muhlenberg hosted the regional ACDF, which the College's dance students have attended for the past several years. With the addition of Trexler Pavilion for Theatre and Dance two years ago, the College's facilities now provide an excellent venue for the competition. The regional festival was attended by approximately 500 students and faculty from 30 colleges, with 40 dance works adjudicated. "Black Raspberry" is one of only two works from the Northeast Region to be selected for the national competition.

The festival was coordinated at Muhlenberg by dance chair Karen Dearborn. "Black Raspberry" was choreographed by Muhlenberg dance professor Jennifer Kayle and guest artist Megan Bonneau-McCool. Muhlenberg students performing in the piece are Kristin Goldrick '03, Megan Richwine '03, Kat Linse '04, Jess Warchal '05, Katie Swisher '05, Jacinda Caras '05 and Jenny Scherer '05.

The American College Dance Festival Association meets annually in nine regions nationwide. The National Festival will be held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in May.
