MUHLENBERG COLLEGE ELECTS NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Muhlenberg College is pleased to announce that three new members have been named to the Board of Trustees. Gregory J. Fox and Raymond L. Singer, MD were elected at the Board's spring meeting last week.

Muhlenberg College is pleased to announce that three new members have been named to the Board of Trustees. Gregory J. Fox and Raymond L. Singer, MD were elected at the Board's spring meeting last week.

Gregory Fox is a member of Muhlenberg's Class of 1976, and he earned his JD and LL.M. (Taxation) from Temple University School of Law. He is an attorney and partner with Montgomery McCracken & Walker & Rhoads, LLP, in Philadelphia, Pa., which he joined in 1986. In 1998, the National Law Journal named him one of the top benefits lawyers in the United States.

Fox is a member of the president's advisory board of Archbishop Ryan High School, and has served on the board of directors for the St. Thomas More Society in Philadelphia. He is an active member of the Muhlenberg community, having served on the Alumni Association Executive Council, participated in Career Development and Alumni in the Classroom programs, and served as a Reunion Chair for the College. Fox resides in Rydal, Pa.

Raymond Singer served as an associate trustee of the College before his appointment to the Board. He earned a B.S. in natural sciences from Muhlenberg in 1980. In 1984, he completed his MD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is a cardiothoracic surgeon with the Heart Care Group, PC, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa.

In 1999, Singer and three other surgeons organized the Heart Care Group, establishing a joint venture with a group cardiology practice to provide coordinated vascular medicine services from one location. Singer also serves as associate chief in the division of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He has been a clinical professor affiliated with DeSales University and the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He has been honored as a fellow by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He has made numerous contributions to professional medical literature.

An active community member, Singer is a trustee of Keneseth Israel Synagogue in Allentown, and has volunteered with the Big Brothers program. He has served as a director of the Lehigh Valley/Carbon County chapter of the American Heart Association, which presented him with the Acute Care-Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Award in 2000. At Muhlenberg, Singer has been a member of the International Visiting Committee and the Shankweiler Committee. In 2000, he was the recipient of an Alumni Achievement Award for Distinguished and Exceptional Attainments in Life. Singer and his wife, Bonnie Lyn, reside in Fogelsville, Pa.
