Muhlenberg Sponsors Cartography Lecture

Dr. Amy Hillier of the Cartographic Modeling Lab at the University of Pennsylvania will give a public lecture, “Redlining in Philadelphia: Using GIS to Understand Lending Patterns,” at Muhlenberg College, Thursday, November 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Lithgow Science Auditorium, Trumbower Hall.

Dr. Amy Hillier of the Cartographic Modeling Lab at the University of Pennsylvania will give a public lecture, “Redlining in Philadelphia: Using GIS to Understand Lending Patterns,” at Muhlenberg College, Thursday, November 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Lithgow Science Auditorium, Trumbower Hall. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Hillier will discuss her study of “Redlining in Philadelphia,” which explores the relationship between maps made by the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation and mortgage discrimination in the 1930s. Her use of geographic information systems (GIS) technology in her findings will be highlighted.
