New York Daily News Columnist To Speak At Muhlenberg College

Muhlenberg College will sponsor "Latinos and American Politics in the New Century," a lecture by New York Daily News columnist Juan Gonzalez, Wednesday, October 2, 7 p.m. in Egner Memorial Chapel.

Juan Gonzalez has been referred to as one of the country's "100 most influential Hispanics" by Hispanic Business magazine. His articles have appeared in many publications, ranging from Mademoiselle, Latina, The New York Times, The Source, and many more. He is also a contributing editor to "In These Times," co-host of a daily morning news show entitled "Democracy Now," and recent author of his book, "Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America."

In his twenty-plus years of work in this field, Gonzalez has covered a plethora of national events, including the 1989 U.S. invasion of Panama, the Los Angeles riots, political trouble in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, and the O.J. Simpson trial. He was also a founding member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and served on its board of directors for several years.

Juan Gonzalez's appearance at the College is sponsored by The Lectures & Forum Committee, the Office of Multicultural Life, P.E.P., the Center for Ethics, the Deans of the College, and Comunidad Latina.
