Barbara Gottschalk, executive vice president of Seeds of Peace, will join Muhlenberg College the week of October 28 as part of the Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellows Program. She will give a public lecture, "Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders for Peace," on Wednesday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lithgow Science Auditorium, Trumbower Hall.

Seeds of Peace is a camp and experimental living environment uniting children from countries torn by war and violence. This organization was originally formed to work with Israeli and Palestinian youth, but has expanded to include children from many countries, including India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Since 1993, over 2,000 teens from 22 nations have graduated from Seeds of Peace.

Barbara Gottschalk worked closely with the founder and president of Seeds of Peace, the late John Wallach, to initiate and form the organization's mission and operation. She holds many responsibilities as she works on program development and administration, maintaining contact with both coordinators and participants of the program, supervising staff, camp programming, public relations, and an array of other jobs. Gottschalk's areas of expertise and experience include peace studies, conflict resolution, advocacy work for people with disabilities, children and violence, and more. The Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellows Program, which began in 1973, provides an opportunity to increase the flow of ideas between the academic and non-academic areas of society, and to bring together a liberal education with the world outside of campus
