"Acres Of Diamonds": Elliott Photographs On Display At UPenn Gallery

Photographs by Joseph E. B. Elliott, professor of art at Muhlenberg College, are on display at the University of Pennsylvania. “Acres of Diamonds: The Architectural Treasures of North Philadelphia” can be seen through April 4 in the Upper Gallery, Meyerson Hall at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, University of Pennsylvania. The exhibition is sponsored by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), National Parks Service.

An accompanying lecture, “From ‘Rural Remoteness’ to Urban Center: The 19th Century Transformation of North Philadelphia as Documented by Historic American Building Survey,” will be presented by Catherine C. Lavoie, senior historian, HABS; James A. Jacobs, historian, HABS; and Joanne Jackson, executive director, CDC, on Thursday evening, March 27, 6 p.m., in the gallery.

Elliott earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota and his M.F.A. at the Pratt Institute. He joined the Muhlenberg faculty in 1983.
