‘Berg Counselor Receives Professional Award

Anita Kelly, director of counseling services at Muhlenberg College, is one of three area professionals to receive 2003 Crime Victims Council Allied Professional Awards. Kelly has been instrumental in leading Muhlenberg College in addressing issues of sexual assault.

Anita Kelly, director of counseling services at Muhlenberg College, is one of three area professionals to receive 2003 Crime Victims Council Allied Professional Awards. Kelly has been instrumental in leading Muhlenberg College in addressing issues of sexual assault.

Kelly has coordinated numerous sexual assault awareness programs for students, faculty and staff members at Muhlenberg, and provides guidance for the student-run Sexual Assault Support Systems organization. She educates College judicial boards on issues related to sexual assault and serves as an advocate for students who have been assaulted by providing counseling, crisis intervention, accompaniment and information, as well as referrals. As director of counseling services, Kelly oversees the counseling center staff, whose support services are available to all Muhlenberg students.

The Crime Victims Council is a private non-profit organization devoted to offering support and assistance to individuals affected by crime, and to their significant others. Each year, CVC presents the Allied Professional Awards to individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to crime victims in Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
