“Art History’s Heroes: The Masters of Contemporary Realism” will open in Muhlenberg College’s Martin Art Gallery, Friday, June 20, with an opening reception 5-8 p.m. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 12 noon-9 p.m. Admission is free. This exhibition features works of art by some of our nation's most respected and revered artists. “Masters of Contemporary Realism” will focus on a group of painters who offer contemporary subjects in a realist style. Capturing the genre scenes of the early 21st Century, this show addresses the issues of our day and the straightforward mastery of these artists on the cutting edge of the international art scene. Artists Vincent Desiderio, Bo Bartlett, Frank Lind, Joseph A. Smith, Chris Wright, Valerie Demianchuk, David Baker, and others will share their work with summer visitors to the Martin.
