Harel Stanton, an ethnographical photographer, professional lecturer and tour guide living in Israel, will present “The Thousand Faces of Israel,” a photographic journey, at Muhlenberg College, Sunday, February 16, 7 p.m., in the Recital Hall, Baker Center for the Arts. The lecture is sponsored by Hillel, and is free and open to the public.

Stanton’s work focuses on people in their environment, rituals, ceremonies, traditions and other ethnic customs that distinguish the dozens of countries he has photographed. His photographs are published on a regular basis in Israel’s leading geographical magazines “Masa Acher” and “Masa Olami.”

In Israel, Stanton works with the educational system, high schools, colleges and universities, educating students and adults through his many slide presentations. He has experience with American audiences as part of the Israeli scout delegation to the U.S. in 1985 and as a “Shaliach” for the Jewish Agency in 1991. In the fall of 2002, he toured the U.S., giving slide presentations and photographic workshops. His presentations allow the audience to feel and experience the beauty of the slides, the people and the country.
