Muhlenberg College Elects New Members To Board Of Trustees

Four new members and a life member have been named to the Board of Trustees of Muhlenberg College. Marion Glick, Melanie Mason, Susan Pobjoy and Paul Silverman were elected at the Board’s spring meeting last week. Donald T. Shire has been named a life trustee.

Four new members and a life member have been named to the Board of Trustees of Muhlenberg College. Marion Glick, Melanie Mason, Susan Pobjoy and Paul Silverman were elected at the Board’s spring meeting last week. Donald T. Shire has been named a life trustee.

Marion Glick is a 1982 graduate of Muhlenberg College and served as an associate trustee for seven years before her election to the Board. She is vice president of media relations for Porter Novelli International, one of the world’s largest public relations agencies, located in New York City. She holds a master’s degree in journalism and science communication from the University of Maryland.

An active member of the Muhlenberg alumni association, Glick has served as an alumni admissions representative and on steering committees for College reunions and alumni events. She has participated in career development programs for current and graduating students.

Melanie Mason, a 1983 graduate of Muhlenberg College, is the Alumni Association representative to the Board. She earned her master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota and has held administrative positions at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C. She currently serves on a regional board for the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. Mason serves the Muhlenberg community as an admissions ambassador, and has chaired her regional alumni club and reunion committees. She and her husband, Scott, live in Potomac, Md.

Susan Kienzle Pobjoy ’73 is vice president of worldwide sales, HP Services-Annuity & Channel Business division of Hewlett Packard. Currently based in Mountain View, Calif., she has spent much of her career working from offices in the United Kingdom and Geneva, Switzerland, working in sales and marketing management and executive positions. She holds a master’s of science in mathematics from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s of business administration in international marketing from LaSalle University.

Beginning in 1999, Pobjoy and her husband, Graham, spent nearly two years circumnavigating the globe as part of the Blue Water Rally. They now reside in Portola Valley, Calif.

Paul Silverman ’78 is the president of MDC Logistics, Inc., a family owned and operated regional warehousing, distribution and transportation company for the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas. He served as an associate trustee for seven years before his election to the Board. He has served as chair of the advisory board for the Hudson Transportation and Management Association. Silverman and his wife, Denise, live in Upper Montclair, N.J.

Donald T. Shire served on the Muhlenberg College Board of Trustees from 1976-1995. He received the alumni association award for service to the College by a non-alumnus in 1986 and with his wife, in 1991, established the Donald and Anne Shire Distinguished Teacher Professorship to recognize and promote excellent teaching within the College faculty. Shire earned his B.S. and L.L.B. at Boston University and studied advanced management at Harvard Business School. A former lawyer and U. S. Naval Reserve officer, Shire retired as senior vice president of administration for Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., in 1993.
