The Muhlenberg College Institute of Jewish-Christian Understanding (IJCU) will present “A Bible for Mature Christians,” a pre-Lent workshop, Wednesday, February 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall. Registration deadline is January 31; registration fee is $35 or $40 with Continuing Education credit of .5 CEU (five contact hours). IJCU members may use one of their program fee coupons in partial payment. For registration information, call the IJCU at 484-664-3470.

The workshop leader will be Norman Beck, Poehlmann Professor of Theology and Classical Literatures and chair of the department of theology, philosophy and classical languages at Texas Lutheran University, where he has taught for 27 years.

A leading New Testament scholar and a veteran of interfaith encounter, Beck is the author of “Mature Christianity in the 21st Century.” He has now produced a Bible translation and lectionary, “The New Testament,” which embodies the conviction that the systematic denigration of women and gratuitous anti-Jewish polemic have no place in the church today.

Lunch and a copy of Beck’s translation of the New Testament are included in the registration fee.
