National Hunger Homelessness Awareness Week At Muhlenberg College

Muhlenberg College will kick off National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with a panel discussion.

Muhlenberg College will kick off National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with a panel discussion tonight. Events will continute throughout the week. Organizers of local National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week events seek to create an increased awareness, interest, and understanding of homelessness, hunger and poverty within the campus and the community.

The following events are free and open to the public:

  • Panel discussion: Faces of Homelessness
    Monday, November 17, 7 p.m., Miller Forum, Moyer Hall
  • Documentary: Dark Days
    Tuesday, November 18, 7 p.m., Recital Hall, Baker Center for the Arts
  • The Faith Based Initiative: Government, Religion, & Social Services Wednesday, November 19, 7 p.m., Recital Hall
    Participants: Rob Boston, Americans United for the Separation of Church
    Dr. Murry Friedman from the Feinstein Center, Temple University
  • Speak-Out for Fair Housing
    Friday, November 21, 7 p.m., Seegers Union
    Participants include Alan Jennings, Executive Director of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley

During the week, Muhlenberg students will organize a Shantytown sleep-out to raise awareness and a Midnight Run to deliver blankets, food and supplies to the homeless in downtown Allentown.
