The Muhlenberg College Center for Ethics will present a multi-media exhibit entitled, “Documenting Disease: Stories of Complexity and Courage,” on Friday, December 10 in Walson Hall, room 115 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event, the final program in the semester-long series, Disease: Representation, Research and Rights, is co-sponsored by the Department of Communication.

This exhibit features digital documentaries produced by students enrolled in the communication department’s documentary research class. Working in the tradition of American social documentary, which is inspired by Robert Coles, James Agee, Dorothea Lange and William Carlos Williams, student documentaries aim to do justice to the "human actuality" of those lives by showing the fullness of their complexity and courage. As a whole, the stories apply to what Coles calls a "humane and literate kind of social inquiry" to the ethical issues raised by this semester's theme.

The exhibit begins at 1:00 p.m. with an introduction and will remain open for viewing until 4 p.m. Students will be present to talk about their work with visitors. Refreshments will also be served at the reception.
