HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria claim nearly 25,000 lives per day, despite the fact that cost-effective programs and technologies are readily available in the global North. Gartner’s lecture, “Closing the Global Equality Gap: Scaling Up Programs to Combat AIDS, TB and Malaria in the Global South,” examines one of the central global justice issues of our time. In his presentation, Gartner asks, “What is America's role in closing the equity gap? Are we responsible for helping to solve this problem? What are the moral, ethical, humanitarian, economic and security rationales for action?”

Based in Washington, D.C., Global AIDS Alliance is a nonprofit organization is dedicated to a collaborative, aggressive Campaign to Stop Global AIDS. Their mission is to end to the global AIDS crisis through mobilizing enhanced awareness, increased funding, and improved policies.
