Muhlenberg College Names New Department Heads

Provost Marjorie Hass has announced that four members of the Muhlenberg College faculty have been named heads of their respective academic departments.

Provost Marjorie Hass has announced that four members of the Muhlenberg College faculty have been named heads of their respective academic departments.

Tammy L. Lewis has been named chair of the sociology and anthropology department. An assistant professor, Lewis joined the Muhlenberg faculty in 2001. She holds a bachelor's degree from Vassar College and master's and doctorate degrees from the University of California, Davis.

David A. Nelson has been named chair of the mathematics and computer science department. An associate professor, Nelson joined the Muhlenberg faculty in 1989. He earned his bachelor's degree at the U.S. Air Force Academy, his master's degree at North Carolina State University, and his doctorate at Penn State University.

Richard A. Niesenbaum has been named chair of the biology department. Niesenbaum joined the Muhlenberg faculty in 1993 and is an associate professor. He holds bachelor's and doctorate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree from the University of Connecticut.

Christine T. Sistare has been named chair of the philosophy department. A professor of philosophy, she joined the Muhlenberg faculty in 1989 and is co-director of the philosophy/political thought program. She earned her bachelor's degree at Connecticut College and her master's and doctorate degrees at Emory University.
