The Muhlenberg Dancers will present its annual faculty- and guest-choreographed dance concert, February 12-14, in the Empie Theatre, Baker Center for the Arts, Muhlenberg College. Performances are Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Trexler Pavilion Box Office at 484-664-3333, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Adult and senior tickets are $15; youth tickets are $8.

The Muhlenberg Dancers join the worldwide celebration honoring the centennial of the birth of George Balanchine, one of the 20th century's most influential choreographers. Through permission from the George Balanchine Trust, Muhlenberg Dancers will perform excerpts from "Who Cares" - the ballet choreographed by Balanchine in 1970 for the New York City Ballet to music by George Gershwin. The original Balanchine choreography has been restaged with the Muhlenberg Dancers by former New York City Ballet soloist Marisa Cerveris; it will be performed to the original score arranged by Hershy Kay and recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andrew Litton.

The concert also will include works choreographed by Philadelphia artist Charles O. Anderson, Baker Artist-in-Residence; Pat Catterson, a prolific choreographer and the recipient of three National Endowment of the Arts choreography grants; Jennifer Kayle, assistant professor of dance and an independent dancer, choreographer and teacher; Shelley Oliver, a member of the Muhlenberg dance faculty, artistic director of Shelley Oliver Tap Dancers and director of the Muhlenberg Jazz Tap Ensemble; North Carolina artist Brad Parquette; and Kathleen Bibilo, a member of the Muhlenberg dance faculty. The artistic director of the Muhlenberg Dancers is Karen Dearborn, head of the dance program at Muhlenberg College.
