Simone Pedroni, gold medalist of the Ninth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will be the third pianist to participate in Muhlenberg College's Piano Series Friday, March 5, 8 p.m., in the Paul C. Empie Theatre, Baker Center for the Arts. Tickets are $20 general admission, $14 for senior citizens, and $5 for students, available through the Muhlenberg College music department, 484-664-3363.

Pedroni, who gave a performance in the 2001 series, has performed in Turin with the RAI Orchestra and Eliahu Inbal, with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Orquesta de Valencia, a cycle of the five Beethoven Piano Concertos with the Orchestra Sinfonica of Milano "Giuseppe Verdi" (with Gianandrea Noseda), and with the National Orchestra of Madrid (Mozart K453). A native of Italy, Pedroni graduated from Milan's Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in 1990 and earned his master's degree at the Accademia Pianistica "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola, Italy, where he studied with Lazar Berman, Franco Scala and Pierro Rattalino.

Pedroni's recital will include works by Schubert, Liszt and Verdi. The Gala 20th Anniversary Season of the Muhlenberg College Piano Series will wrap up on Friday, April 16, with the return of Canadian pianist Richard Raymond. For tickets or more information, call 484-664-3363.
