Muhlenberg College Faculty And The Civic Theatre Join To Present Film Series

The Muhlenberg College faculty and the Civic Theatre will join forces once again to present the Muhlenberg Film Forum.

Created as part of the Civic Theatre’s 19 th Street Film series, this series consists of post-film discussions, led by Muhlenberg College faculty. The forum schedule is as follows:

NINE LIVES –
(December 3 – 9) This anthology of vignettes from director Rodrigo Garcia (Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her) includes a pregnant woman running into a former lover in a supermarket (Robin Wright Penn); a woman caught up in an affair at a seedy motel (Sissy Spacek); and a woman alarmed at her boyfriend's antisocial behavior (Holly Hunter). Also stars Civic Theatre alumna Amanda Seyfried. Paul McEwan, visiting assistant professor of communication, will lead the post-film talk on December 7.

THE PRIZE WINNER OF DEFIANCE, OHIO – (December 10 – 17) Julianne Moore plays Evelyn Ryan, a housewife and mother of 10. Evelyn's alcoholic husband, Kelly (Woody Harrelson), has drunk the family into financial trouble. To make ends meet, Evelyn tries her luck in some jingle-writing contests, writing rhyming couplets for companies such as Dr. Pepper and Maidenform bras. Based on a true story. Patricia McRae, assistant professor of political science, leads the discussion on December 14.
