Former Member of the George W. Bush Administration to Speak at Muhlenberg

Peter Brookes, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Affairs in the George W. Bush administration, will present a talk, “It’s NOT Just the Economy, Stupid! Why Foreign Policy is Important in ’08,” at Muhlenberg College.

The lecture will be held on September 24 at 7 p.m. in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall.  The event is free and open to the public and is part of a semester-long Center for Ethics series entitled 2008: Politics Ethics and Citizenship.
A Navy veteran, Brookes is a Senior Fellow of The Heritage Foundation, where he develops and communicates The Heritage Foundation's stance on foreign policy and national security affairs through media appearances, research, published articles, congressional testimony and speaking engagements.
Brookes is a columnist for the New York Post and is a contributing editor for Armed Forces Journal magazine.  He is also the author of A Devil’s Triangle: Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Rogue States (2005).
A force in electronic media as well, Brookes has appeared as a television and radio commentator on channels such as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and Radio Free Asia to name a few.

2008: Politics, Ethics and Citizenship is presented in cooperation with the Political Science Department’s Election Series and co-sponsored by the Lectures and Forums Committee, with assistance from the Departments of Art, Media & Communication and Theatre & Dance, and the Muhlenberg Activities Council and the Multicultural Center.
